Greek mythology mentions laurel oil, the story goes something like this
In Greek mythology, there is a famous story about Daphne and Apollo. In Greek Daphne means Bay laurel. Daphne was a beautiful nymph who did not want to marry. When Apollo saw Daphne, he wanted her and her attention. Daphne on the other hand wanted her life of freedom and was uninterested in Apollo. However, Apollo did not leave Daphne in peace, he kept following her. Daphne was scared and called her father for protection so, her father transformed her into a bay laurel tree. Her father turned her into a tree next to the riverbank she loved. Apollo was very sad after losing Daphne, but he had the tree to remind him of her, so he announced the bay laurel tree to be a sacred tree.
