Oragnic Shea Butter Soap
Our Organic Shea Butter liquid hand soap, of course has shea butter as a main ingredient, but what is shea butter? and what are the benefits it contains?
What is shea butter?
Shea butter is fat extracted from the African Shea tree (Vitellaria Paradoxa).
When extracted the butter looks kind of ivory in color but sometimes it is colored with borututu root to give it its yellowish color.
Farmers and women from the local area gather the shea nuts from the tree, and any fallen nuts on the ground. Afterwards the women separate the good nuts from the bad nuts. The good nuts are briefly boiled then dried, usually in the sun, in a clean place. Then they crack the nuts and discard the shells. The women hit the nuts with a mortar and pestle to get fine powder then its roasted. After roasting the fine powder, they add boiled water to it slowly and constantly knead it with their hands to form a smooth consistency. They heat the mixture and remove (skim) the oil that forms on top (this is the pure shea butter).
Some African countries eat shea butter, it is an all-natural vegan product, which they use in cooking.
900 thousand women in northern Uganda have jobs because of shea butter production.
Benefits of organic shea butter soap
Shea butter comes from some west and east African countries like Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda.
Non- refined shea butter has no added chemicals, this allows it to keep all its amazing benefits.
Shea butter is rich in Vitamin E, A, F, Catechins which are antioxidants, and Tocopherol which is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that helps in reducing skin damage and moisturizing the skin. It is also rich with Oleic, Stearic, linoleic and palmitic acids.
Oleic acid is an Omega 9 fatty acid. It hydrates the skin since it can penetrate the skin this makes it great for dry or mature skin. Oleic acid can also fight free radical damage since it is an antioxidant, this slows down the aging process of the skin meaning it is great for anti-aging! Finally, Oleic acid has anti-inflammatory properties which helps sooth skin.
Stearic acid like oleic acid helps in hydrating the skin. Our skin absorbs stearic acid quickly which helps keep it hydrated for longer. Stearic acid acts like a cleanser, but it does not strip away the natural oils of the skin. The acid has a mild PH, which fits with our skin’s PH perfectly, this helps us maintain our natural PH balance and keeps our skin barrier safe.
Our organic shea butter soap provides all these benefits and more. We constantly expose our hands to sunlight, harsh weather, constant washing which strips the natural oils and throws our PH off balance, but you can use our organic shea butter soap knowing it is providing nourishment and protection to your hands.
